Construction Update 5/12/2008:
The mass grading crew is making great progress on the site, as the removal of all the remnants of the mining operation continues. The grading crew has moved the large gravel pile from the west end of the site and start stabilizing the slope on the west end of the site by pulling it back to a 3 to 1 slope. The remainder of the site is getting its finish grade for the hydrology plans to allow for proper drainage into the on site catch ponds. Crews are working on the storm drains and culverts that will keep the road ways and site stable through large storm events.
An excavator compacts the fill above two 24" drain pipes.
This formerly unstable slope has been pulled back to an acceptable slope and will be hydro- seeded to prevent erosion.
The scrappers continue to balance the remaining site to get to the approved grading and hydrology plan.
The finish grade is being set using GPS equipment (shown here is the site of the future camp ground area)
Warning:
While the mass grading is going on the site is a closed site and no one besides authorized personal will be allowed on site due to the dangerous nature of the construction site. Please do not try and come out to the site, security will not let you through the front gate unless you are chaperoned by a member of the Pala Raceway Staff. Once the mass grading is done and the track building crews are on site we will begin offering site tours.
